Today I'm going to highlight two toys from Patch that I think are perfect gifts for the little ones on your holiday shopping list. Patch Toys is a family owned business started in 1985 and they have a name well known for great games such as Farkle and Wooly Willy. Let's get started and meet the myPad from the Mirari line. When it comes to electronics no one is more attracted to them than toddlers! If they see mom and dad playing with a tablet or a phone they want one too. When I was first introduced to the myPad from Mirari at Blogher13 in Chicago I smiled at the genius of making a tablet just for little hands. For this review we had to enlist the help of the adorable Miss A my best friend's darling little girl. We pulled the myPad from the bag to show Miss A and she immediately started pressing the buttons and wanted it out of the package to play.

Have you ever played the nerve-wracking edge-of-your-seat fun Hasbro game called Jenga? You loved it right? Of course you did, and so did I which was why I was anxious to try the new Jenga TETRIS. This new game from Hasbro has traded the simple wooden blocks from the original for new plastic TETRIS shaped blocks of all different colors. This more colorful family game has all the fun of the original and is a bit trickier to play.

I know I'm his mom, so I'm supposed to think my son is the cutest and smartest boy ever, and he really is you know. I love the Booper because he is always surprising me. I had to laugh when I asked Mr. Boop what he wanted to be for Halloween he didn't even hesitate to say he wanted to be Luigi. We like to play video games and he loves the games with Mario. He's fascinated lately about being a super hero and saving people so I figured he would want to be super man or spider man, or I even thought he might want to have a cat costume since he loves kitty cats. But no, he had to be Luigi from the Mario Brothers. My hunt for a Luigi Halloween costume lead me to Halloween Adventure.com where I found just what I was looking for.

Disney LIVE came to a city near my home and the Booper and I were given free tickets to attend in exchange for this post. An easy trade for me, I was so excited to get to go see some of my favorite princess stories played out on stage at The Center. We walked in with anticipation for a time of fun and magic and we walked out with our eyes wide with wonder and big smiles all around. This show seemed to draw in a large audience of little girls all decked out in their princess costumes and who could blame them? It's the perfect time of year for dressing up and when you're going to watch other princesses you might as well be one too, right? The Booper was my little prince he didn't dress for the occasion, but when we arrived my mother bought him and my nephew plastic swords from the souvenir stand. (A fact that made the intermission break very interesting for us.)

Creating Change - There's No Place Like Home

Several years ago I had the pleasure of helping out on a build for Habitat for Humanity. The house we were building happened to be a home for one of my co-workers and I was so happy for her to finally have a place to raise her children. The whole experience of volunteering to help with the build was eye-opening for me. To join up on a build with Habitat for Humanity was a step out of my comfort zone, but so worth the temporary anxiety I felt when walking up to the build site. I wasn't the only one who had never volunteered so all of us newbies got to enjoy some firsts together. Throughout the day different volunteers showed up and each were given tasks to help get the job done. It wasn't the first time I held and used a hammer, but it is now the first house I can drive past and say, "I helped build that!" what a thrill. While temperatures are starting to cool down outside, I still enjoy getting out there and grilling up some delicious dishes for our family. I know there are a lot of people who can whip out intricate flavors that will make mouth's water, but for me I'm better at sticking with what's simple. While trying to come up with a creative recipe to try out my new bottle of olive oil all I kept thinking of was grilling out. We love using olive oil to coat our grill rack to keep foods from sticking. Just two days ago our family returned from a highly anticipated vacation to Destin, Florida. While we were there we had lots of family time. We were fortunate to stay in a beautiful condo and have all the amenities of home a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a few things we don't have at home like a gorgeous white sandy beach! We took the Booper to several fun places for entertainment. We shot some hoops at a local arcade and I scored the highest score of the day winning one hundred tickets and long time bragging rights (of course). Discovering a local playground off the beaten path the Booper enjoyed playing with the other children, and even cried when boy he'd just met had to go home. Isn't that sweet?

Meet Lark from The Beatrix Girls

It's not every day we get to host a rock star in our home, but recently we had the chance to open our guest room to Lark from The Beatrix Girls! Lark is an extreme sports loving rocker who brightened our home with her spunk and obviously her bright red locks of hair. Lark plays bass guitar but could appreciate the lead guitar licks my husband played while she was visiting. With her beautiful green eyes Lark watched some baseball with our family and we all cheered on our favorite Red Sox! We were happy to learn coming from Boston Lark enjoys many of the same things we do like Boston baked beans. Florsheim Style Meets Quality {Review and Giveaway}

Maybe it was the pumpkin orange mock shoelaces or the plaid that caught my eye, but I immediately fell in love with this pair of shoes from Florsheim. The Booper was excited when we received his new shoes, and I couldn't get over the stylish detailing on the Valco Moc Toe Jr. With a fashionable flair I didn't realize was possible with toddler boy's shoes the Booper found them easy to put on. He still asks for my help when putting on his shoes, but I've watched him do it by himself before. The really genius thing about these boots in my opinion are the shoelaces or rather the stretchy bands that look like laces. The mock laces on these shoes from Florsheim give boys with a high instep like my little guy added comfort while putting them on and taking them off. This pair the Valco Moc Toe Jr is available in 3 color choices and is made with a combination of genuine leather and fabric. I chose the Brown Multi and the other choices for this pair were Brown or Olive Camouflage. With a good sized sole made of rubber the tread works well for active boys like our Booper.

Smart Choice for School Lunches

Organic milk right off shelf? You bet! Before I was contacted for this review I didn't know about these milk boxes from Horizon. The Booper like most kids loves chocolate milk. He doesn't get it often so it's a special treat when we let him add chocolate to his milk. We received 20 individual serving milk boxes for this review, and so we wanted to share them with friends. On a Friday when we were going to be helping at the school, the Booper and I met with the children at the park for snack time. These milk boxes are served best chilled, and I kept them on ice packs at the park, but they are safe to store in a cool dry space like your pantry. To my surprise the Booper liked the Vanilla just as much as he loved the Chocolate flavored. The students all enjoyed drinking the Horizon milk boxes with their cookies at the park. Thankfully we had enough to give everyone seconds after their play time! A couple of the boys had the chocolate flavor the first time and were a bit nervous to try the vanilla, then one of them exclaimed, "this is really good!". I smiled knowing that not only was the milk delicious, it was also good for them too.
